The Holy Teachings of Ji-Gong Living Buddha
◎我這群徒兒們可真懂禮貌啊！（謝謝老師慈悲！）要謝謝你們自己！如果你們自己做得不好，那麽怎能得到別人的誇獎呢？
My disciples all have good manners (Class: Thank you for your merciful compliment.) You should be thankful to yourselves. Without your good behavior, how can you derive people’s compliment?
◎來這裡就是要不斷不斷地學習！不懂的就要學起來，更要做得好，並且要去感化別人，讓每個人都能改邪歸正，能夠棄惡從善，所以今天你們的責任是很重大！
Keep learning as you are here. For what you don’t understand, learn it and improve yourselves. Then you can influence people, converting them from bad to good, and from evil to righteous. You play a very important role.
◎來佛堂是聽道理，不要認爲自己不會在台灣久留，要知道「道」是不分國度的，是緊緊地跟著你啊！所以你有責任把它發揚光大。
You are here in the Temple for the Tao lectures. Don’t think you just stay in Taiwan for a short time. You should keep in mind that Tao transcends nationality and clings to you all the time. You share the responsibility to manifest and glorify Tao.
◎爲師知道你們來這個地方是為了要生活，生活有兩種意思：一種是物質上的生活，所以你們要越過海洋來到這裡賺錢；但是另一種意思是超物的生活，是心靈上的；所以你們要懂得，不要忽略這個心靈上的生活！
I know you are here to earn the living, but living carries two levels of meaning. The first is materialistic, so you cross the oceans all the way to make money here. However, the other living is more important than materialistic, it is spiritual living. Never ever neglect your spiritual living. Always remember it.
◎如果你的一生只是在物質上享受， 那你的人生會很乏味，要知道人活在這個世界上有很多層面的價值啊！有的人只想這一輩子從頭活到老，每天有的吃、有的穿、有的住就可以；有人想要留下他的美名，在這個人世間。
If you indulge material pleasures and desires, you life will be boring and meaningless. People’s existence in this world can have different values. Some people want nothing but a long life, having enough to eat, to wear, and to live. But some people want more than that. They want to leave their names remembered and respected by the future generations.
◎這一來下才發覺，你看看前面的人都還沒有坐下， 後面的反而坐下了；這沒有誰錯誰對，只是小細節，因爲語言不通的關係。
After the leader’s command, we can see the people in the front remain standing while those in the black have already sat down. No one is to blame, just a language barrier.
◎Happy就是smile，你不smile， 人家會以爲叫你出來，你心中覺得很不高興， 很生氣， 如果這麽好看的臉， 結果你卻繃著一個臉都不笑，那麽就會扣掉好幾分了！如果笑的話，就好像把香水灑到別人身上一樣， 大家都會感受到那一份香味。
Smile if you are happy. If you don’t smile, people have no idea of your happiness. They may even think you are angry. Especially now you have handsome looks, keeping a poker face makes you less handsome than you are. If you smile, however, it is like you are speading your own perfume and sharing with people the fragrance.
◎別人主動接近你，你就有機會成全他們。 你想不想去幫助別人，成全別人啊？那麽先決條件就是要從自己身上改造好！如果你板著一個臉，別人想要來的時侯，看到你，哇，天啊！怎被剌到了呢？別人就不會來了。
When people contact you on their own initiatives, it’s your chance to help and enlighten them. Do you want to help and enlighten other people? (Yes) But the premise is that change and improve yourselves in the first place. With a poker face, you seem to have thorns and scare people away when they want to meet you. Understand?
◎要吃蘋果，你要種什麽種子啊？（蘋果）那麽要吃西瓜，要種什麽種子？（西瓜）如果要吃西瓜，卻種了蘋果的種子，你說它會長出西瓜來嗎？（不會）今天你們來到這裡，就是要種下一顆種子，要種下什麽種子，就看你個人而定，如果你想有好的果實，就要種下好的種子。
What kind of seed should you sow before you reap apples? (Apple seeds.) And what is it before you reap watermelons? (Watermelon seeds.) If you want the watermelons, but sow the apple seeds,will you reap the watermelon? (No). Today you are here in the Temple to sow a seed. It is you that decide what kind of seed to sow. If you expect a good harvest, the seed you are planting must also be good.
◎嘴巴很好用！可以講話，可以唱歌，又可以吃東西，但是這個嘴巴也不好用，因爲你用它來講不好的話，拿它亂吃東西，就對你不太好。所以這是一體兩面，就看你是要取它好的一面，還是取它不好一面。
Having a mouth is good. With the mouth you can speak, sing, and eat. But having a mouth is also bad, because you may use it to speak filthy language and take contaminated food. That does you harm. It is like a coin that has two sides. It is you that take either the positive side or the negative side of the same thing.
◎爲師也來種一些種子，送給你們。希望你們把他記在心中，不是白白給你們，也要你們講講心中體會；其實每一個人都很勇敢，只是大家都很謙虛，怕太出頭了，會講錯，其實並沒有什麽對或錯，只要講出心中的感受，那也是一種分享。就像站在講台上的人，他們並不是教你們什麽，只是分享他們修道的過程，只要你們有心，在修道這條路上，好好研究出味“道”來，你也可以跟別人分享啊，所以並不是站在台上的人，才是可以講道的人，你回去之後跟別人分享你的心得，也是一種講道。在每個人的心中都有真、善、美，這三顆種子，只是沒有真正種到内心裏，終究只是種子而已，沒有發揮出功用來；如果將他們種植在内心裏，那麽種子就不只是種子，而可以產生出來錯的樣子來，活在世界上真正要追求的價值又是什麽？只有真正了解人生真諦是什麽，如此人生才更有意義！
Now I am planting a seed for you, and hope you can keep it in mind. In order to get the seed, however, you must make some efforts by sharing your understandings with the class. Be barve and don’t be too humble. There is nothing absolutely right or wrong. As long as you express your true feelings, it is what I mean by sharing. The lecturers on the platform are not actually preaching to you; they are just sharing with you their experience and understanding of Tao. If you have the will, on the path of Tao cultivation, you will have your own understanding of Tao and you can go further to share it with others. Therefore, not only can the lecturers on the platform preach the message of Tao, but you can also make it by sharing your understandings. Everybody has three seeds: Truth, Kindness, and Beauty. If you never sow them in your heart, the seeds are just seeds that can never grow. But if you sow them in heart,the seeds will be more than just seeds. They will grow to be beautiful. What is the true value for a person to live in this world? You can only lead a meaningful life after you get to realize the true value of it.
◎這個翻譯容不容易啊？你可以把英文講得好，可以把中文講得好，但是你要把另一種語言翻譯成另一種語言，可就不容易啦！又要馬上翻譯去，這更不容易啦！又要馬上翻譯讓人聽得懂，還要翻譯到精髓，這又更不容易啦！要把對方的精神翻譯出來，這就是世界的不容易了。
Is translating easy? It may be easy to master a single language like English or Chinese. But it is not easy to translate from one language into the other, not to mention translating simultaneously. Even more difficult is to translate to the essence and make the translation easily understood. Furthermore, translating original spirit to the fullest will be the most difficult job in the world.
◎平時要不斷地下功夫，心還要夠靜；了解仙佛講的真正涵意在那兒，這一個字對不對，要翻到真正契合仙佛的意思，就不簡單啦！唯有像一盆水，像很平靜的水，可以照見你原來的種子，才能夠無遺地把仙佛的意思翻譯出來。
In order to be a good translator, therefore, you must work hard and always stay calm, understanding the true meaning of Buddhas’s word. If you can reflect what Buddhas really mean, it is unusual. This reflection is like you are facing a pot of water, you can see exactly the way you look. But the water must be clear and calm that you can see your true image. Likewise, you have to be clear and calm to reflect the true intentions of the Buddhas.
◎他們很盡力，你們接受者也要非常盡力，如果他們把一面很亮的鏡子給你，你們卻拿一層砂布把它遮起來，這樣能夠照見本來的樣子嗎？相同地生活在這個世間上，人跟人之間遠拿著一個屏障遮住自己，所以你永遠把對方對你的美意會錯意，你覺得對方對你不好，於是你也對別人不好，就種下了惡因，以後還可以收到好的果實嗎？所以每個人都要把心洗靜下來。
These translators are trying their best, and you should also try your best. Now they are giving you a good mirror, but if you shroud it with sandpaper, will you see your true image? Analogically, people in the world always cover themselves with something, so they often mistake people’s good intentions and return evil for good. This way they sow a bad seed and create a bad cause. Will they reap a good harvest then? So calm your heart and think about it.
◎大家都要再學習，因爲唯有不斷地學習，才能把自己的本位做得更好。所以不要覺得來佛堂是浪費時間，如果你們是在浪費時間，那他們不就太Stupid 了嗎？因爲他們幾乎把時間花在佛堂，所以大家更珍惜機會學道。
Everyone needs to keep learning. Only by learning can you become better and better for your part. Don’t think you are wasting your time here in the Temple. If you think so, these lecturers will be too stupid, since they all have devoted their time to the Temple. That’s why today you have this oppoturnity to learn Tao. Therefore, you should cherish and appreciate it.
◎爲師知道你們心中有疑慮，才叫你們站起來，有問題才是真正的人，如果沒有疑問，別人給你們什麽，你就接受什麽，那麽你就是一個很危險的人；所以有疑問才是正常，才是保護你呀！其實爲師也可以用你們的身體來借竅，更可以找一個比較帥的，但是你們的身體有太多太多的雜念，當爲師要進你們的身體時，被你們一脚踢開，那不是在於你意識中的，而是你心靈上的，只要你們不斷地修持，成爲一個乾乾淨淨的人，說不定那天借的人就是你，那麽爲師可以更自在啊！因爲乾道借乾道的身，不是更好嘛，那麽希望你們把你心中的疑慮給抛開，相信這不是在演戲給你們看，如果你認爲這是在做戲給們看，那麽你們才是戲中的人。你活在這個世間上就好像在演一齣戲，你們在電視上看到的，在你們的現實生活中出現，你們就是戲中的主角。所以你是要當一個好人呢；還是要當一個十惡不赦的壞蛋啊？希望你們今天既然有緣走進來這個佛堂，也不管你認不認為師，咱們今天既然有這個麽一面之緣，咱們就是有緣，爲師希望你們能夠做一個正正當當的人。
I want you to stand up because I know you still have doubt. It is human to have doubt, because if you have no doubt and always take whatever is given to you, you are putting yourself in danger. So having doubt is natural;it serves to protect you. In fact, I could have found a handsome gentleman and used his body to lecture, but you all have too many unnecessary thoughts, so when I enter your body, you kick me out. That is not due to your intention, but to your spirit. But if you keep cultivating and become clean and clear, some day I will use your physical body to lecture, then I can be more carefree. As a gentleman, isn’t it more appropriate for me to use a gentleman’s body? So cast off your doubt. We are not playing a show to you. If you think it is just a show, then you are actually the performers, since your being in this world is like you are in a show. Your life is like a TV program, and you are the performer. So in the show, do you want to be a nice guy or a bad guy? Today you have the affinity to the Temple, whether you take me as your teacher or not, we still have the affinity to meet each other. I hope you all can be righteous and virtuous people for life.
◎適度給別人鼓掌，也是對別人的一種鼓動，每個人精神抖擻，將道氣都顯現出來，那麽旁邊的人也會感覺非常的快樂，因爲他們看到你們現出了道苗，也跟著法喜充滿。
Your applause to people at the right time right place serves as a kind of encouragement. If you show your Tao spirit with enthusiasm, people around you will feel very happy. They are very happy to see the seed of Tao in your heart budding.
◎前面的前賢一個個等著接麥克風，因爲他們真的好累了，爲師又不能事先打草稿給他們練習翻一翻。因此仙佛一來，什麽道理都可以講，看到一個人，也可以講出一番道理，所以他們隨時待勢而發；一旦麥克風不是他拿的時候, 別人翻白，翻得對、翻得不對、翻得好、翻得不好、翻得不夠充實，他都瞭解；可是偏偏自己拿著麥克風的時候，就不聽使喚。第一次的時候，被刮掉許多許多，但如果因爲第一次做得不很完美退卻了，就沒有第二次的完美，所以不管你做什麽事情，第一次做得不好，沒關係，就好像第一次來到這裡的人，有些道理不懂，有些事情不明白，就Say Goodbye！那麽就沒有第二次的明白，如此就是一個半途而廢，不是完美的人。
The lectures that translate my words for you have to take turns because they are really tired. But I cannot make up a script for them to follow and practice in advance. Since different audiences need different lectures for enlightenment, and I will say whatever is most appropriate to them, these translators likewise have to be well prepared any time. For the people who are not translating, they know whether the translation is correct or incorrect, good or bad, complete or incomplete. But when they are holding the microphone and translating, they find their brain unable to function. So people often learn the lesson for the first time. However, if you shrink back from frustration the first time, you will never attain perfection for the next time. Therefore, whatever you do, it doesn’t matter if you fail the first time. It is like today you don’t quite follow all the lectures because it is your first time in here, if you feel frustrated and thus say goodbye to the Temple, you cannot understand as much as you should for the second time, then you just give up halfway will never attain perfection.
◎第一，不要太緊張。第二，要有信心。第三，就是要大聲一點，與爲師的精神才能契合。從現在開始，不要漏氣，經過爲師訓練之後，更應該得心應手。
First, don’t be too nervours. Second, be confident. Third, speak louder and reflect my spirit. From now on, don’t let me down. After my personal training, you shold have a better command.
◎今天你們來到這裡，聽了一天的道理，不管吸收多少，每個人吸收程度不一樣，而後道是自自然然的事，你們能夠吃一碗飯，就吃一碗飯，爲師不會强迫你吃兩碗。如果能把這一碗的營養都吸收進去，那麽今天來到這裡就沒有白費了，就看你們自己是否把握？
Today you are here for the Tao lectures. It doesn’t matter how much you absorb them because different people can have different extents of understanding. Cultivation of Tao is very natural. Take a bowl of rice if you can only take a bowl of rice and I will not force you to take two bowls. As long as you digets and absorb all the nutrients from the rice, your being here today is not in vain. The point is that, have you made the best of it?
◎不管是台上講課的人講的話，還是爲師所説的話，你喜歡的、你受用的就吸收進去。有始有終，這才是道牙！把你們來到這邊吸收的帶回去，把講師講的，點傳師講的，記在你們的心中。
Absorb anything you like or benefit from today’s lectures, either from the lectures’words or my words. Remain consistent from start to end. That is Tao. Take in what the lecturers and Tao Transmitting Masters said, carry it home and keep it in mind.
◎完全記住他們對你那一份心，不是他説的每一句話，而是一種感動及契合，就像手中的大哥大，如果沒有山峰的阻隔，就可以接收到彼此的訊息。但是你們之間有山的阻隔，心中不夠清明，不夠開闊，那麽你們之間就沒辦法溝通了。爲師跟你們之間也有一支無形的大哥大，只是它不會發出嘩嘩嘩的聲音，但是，只要你們的心夠靜，就能感受到爲師在呼喚你。
Remember their good will to you. This good will may not refer to every word they said, but it is a sense of warmth and understanding. It is a mobile phone can help two sides to keep contact if there is no obstacle of mountains. But if you build high mountains, shroud your clear conscience and always be narrow-minded, you find no way to communicate with people. Between me and you there is an invisible moble phone in our hearts. It makes no beeping sound. But if your heart is calm enough, you can always hear me calling you.
◎你們在人世間遇到了麻煩事，遇到不愉快的事情時，你們自然會來到佛前，求仙求佛、求菩薩，在快樂的時間，就會忘了無形仙佛，這是人之常情，但你們可以利用這個機會，利用自己天心來印佛心。
When you encounter troubles that make you unhappy, you often go to the Buddhas and beg for mercy. But when you are happy, you often forget the invisible Buddhas. It is human nature. But now you should learn the lesson, always reflecting your true heart to Buddha’s heart.
◎當你們遇到十字路口，不知如何抉擇時， 總希望仙佛給你們答案，但仙佛給你們了，有些人有辦法接收到，有些人卻根本無法接收，這是爲什麽？這就是你跟老師的電話無法接通，也是沒辦法溝通的。反而覺得仙佛不慈悲，所以爲師要告訴你們，仙佛是慈悲，菩薩也都是慈悲的，為的就是普渡衆生，廣渡天下可憐的蒼生，希望你們能明理，在「道」的這個條路上好好修行。
When you go up to the crossroads, in a dilemma over which way to go, you always wish for a correct answer from Buddhas. But when they answer, some people have the ability to receive while others do not. Why is it? The reason is that the telephone in your heart can’t put you through to the Buddhas, so that both sides can not communicate with each other. Many people thus don’t believe in mercy of Buddhas. Therefore, here I want to tell you that Buddhas are merciful, Bodhisattvas are also merciful, in that they have been trying to save the suffering human beings all over the world. I hope you can understand it and to the path of Tao cultivation devote your time and energy.
◎希望你們今天好好立下一個志向，爲師送給你們的種子，真、善、美，希望你們好好把它記在心中，在你的方寸之間，好好種下這三顆種子，盡你的全力。不管你們認不認爲師，爲師永遠認你們為徒，不要忘記。
I hope today you can set a goal for life. Cherish the seed of Truth, the seed of Kindness, and the seed of Beauty forever in your heart. They are my gifts to you. Sow the seeds in your heart and try all you can. Whether you identify me as your teacher or not, remember that I am forever taking you as my disciples.
◎工作上，生活上，或修道路上，遇到困難時，身處異國的你們，心中有更多掙扎的事，比別人更不適應的事情，但是你們今天道根不錯，能在此開法會，這就是你們的佛緣，既然得到就不要失去，好好珍惜自己的緣份，把握住佳機，希望下次看大家時，頭上更亮更光，學習擔起應擔起的責任。爲師不敢要求你們以聖為重，但只要求你們把聖事放在心中。不管你們相信不相信爲師，都要相信「道」是真的！
When you face difficulties at work, in life, or on cultivation, as foreigners situated in an unfamiliar land you may have more struggle and adjustment problems to deal with. But today you can be here in the Tao seminar, that means you have a good Tao roof. It is your great affinity with Buddhas. Now you get it, don’t lose it. Cherish this affinity and make the best of this opportunity. Next time when I see you, I hope to see light in your head shining even brighter. So learn to take up your share of the holy responsibility. As you’re working here in a foreign land, it may be difficult for you to emphasize much on the holy affairs, but I hope you all can keep in mind this holy responsibility. Whether you believe in me or not, you should always believe that Tao is absolutely true.
